Consent Granted at The Barn, Odiham 28/03/2012

We have obtained planning and listed building consent for the conversion and extension of a listed 18th century barn located within the Odiham Conservation area.

The existing building is an interesting hybrid structure; part timber frame and part solid brickwork. Planning work involved a meticulous study of the existing building which mapped every part of the building.

The proposal creates a new 3 bed courtyard dwelling with the majority of the accomodation on the ground floor.

Work on site is due to start in the summer of 2012.

Weston Lodge Completed 23/02/2012

This project involved creating a new two storey side extension to replace a poor quality single storey structure and the refurbishment of the existing semi-detached house.

The layout of the existing house was reconfigured providing improved living accommodation. The new extension accommodates a generous kitchen/dining room on the ground floor and additional bedrooms on the first floor. The connection with the garden is enhanced with a full height corner window and large bifold windows in the new kitchen/dining room.

As part of the works the existing upvc windows were removed and replaced with more sympathetic timber casement windows.

Consent Granted at Crondall 16/02/2012

mbp architects have been granted planning and listed building consent for 3 dwellings on a sensitive site in the Crondall Conservation Area in Hampshire. The scheme includes 2 new dwellings and the conversion of a listed dairy. The scheme includes a range of energy saving measures including air source heat pumps and also includes a sustainable drainage system. The constrained site necessitated compact plans with living space wrapped around private walled courtyards.

Chelsea Project Completed 05/12/2011

Located in the heart of Chelsea and owned by a local developer, the works to this one bedroom apartment included the re-organisation of the layout, re-positioning the luxury bathroom and fully equipped kitchen to provide improved space and amenity to the bedroom and reception room. A complete overhaul of the services included a new lighting layout and improved heating provision. A simple palette of neutral colours and materials including limestone floors and tiling to the wet areas were utilised to create a sophisticated atmosphere.

Following its recent completion and within just a matter of days of being on the market with Douglas and Gordon, the flat received above asking price bids and is now under offer. As one of our smaller projects, the scheme was successfully completed within a £60k budget.

MBP Architects commended 29/11/2010

MBP Architects has received a commendation for its design of the new Waitrose development at this year’s City of Winchester Trust Design Awards.

The Waitrose/ Friarsgate scheme in Weeke, Winchester was highly commended by judges, including the former president of the Royal Town Planning Institute Martin Willey, who commented; “So much better than most retail developments and a good use of a tight site.”

Brendan Tracey, director at MBP Architects commented; “This is a very important project for the practice and we are extremely fortunate to have worked with such a highly aspirational client. In addition the positive contributions made by the tenants ensured this was a scheme the whole design team could be proud of.”
